Kevlar was born on the 18th February 2015 and is the son of Grand Canadian Champion Feli Fey Flying Dutchman and Champion Xanthos Givenchy. One photo shows him at exactly five months, showing lots of promise, another photo of him fully mature at 7 years in the summer of 2022. He qualified for Crufts at his first show, and loved every minute of it. Great fun in all respects he is a great combination of both his mother and father. His first three months in the ring have been memorable to say the least, he has had some terrific wins going Best Puppy in Show at the Southern Golden Retriever Society Open Show at 8 months, then a few days later going Best Puppy in Show at United Retriever Club Show up against puppies of all the Retriever breeds, the Championship Show judge who awarded him this wonderful place was David Coode whose critique in the dog papers was “The Golden Retriever Xanthos Bullet Proof could not be denied Best Puppy in Show, he is so sound on the move with super forward extension, a joy to watch. Here was just enough of everything, no coarseness, excellent head, gentle expression, well angulated forehand, sound hindquarters and very good coat” two weeks later Kevlar then went all the way up to Scotland to the Gundog Breeds of Scotland Championship show, bless him he travelled brilliantly, won both minor puppy and puppy, went Best Puppy in Breed and then after a long day went on to take Reserve Best Puppy in Show behind an 11 month old Welsh Springer Spaniel. The critique from Gordon Talbot, once again a Championship Show judge was “RBPIS was Xanthos Bullet Proof 8 months of age, living up to his name with nothing upsetting him in his final run” this young man just loves the show ring, we are going to have so much fun.

All Kevlar’s health clearances are excellent. Hips 3:4 total of 7, Elbows 0:0, current clear eye certificate including gonioscopy pass, he is extensively DNA tested clear for both PRA 1 & 2 as well as: Ichthyosis Type 1&2 DNA clear of Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis and Muscular Dystrophy and as with all my breeding stock holds a clear heart certificate from the cardiologist Mark Oakley. I hope this cracking young dog is going to make a very positive contribution to the gene pool.

January 2017 before his second birthday and Kevlar takes his Show Gundog Working Certificate and does a stellar job! the A panel field trial judge Phil Allen, was very impressed with him and told me, “that young dog of yours is very impressive, with more training you could trial him” praise indeed, I am so proud of him. I will resist the temptation to start trial training but will enjoy him being a great member of my picking up team.

Kevlar continues to mature and by the autumn of 2018 he already had two reserve CC’s to his credit.

Summer of 2023 and Kevlar takes his Champion title in three shows over one weekend whilst in Slovenia, he returned back home in September ready to get back to work picking up. Brains and beauty in one package, we are very very proud of him, not only for his own achievements but for the champions he has produced.
